Living Tiny – Going Small Is Becoming Huge

This may sound like a cliche but going tiny is quickly becoming huge. And what I mean by going tiny is that. People are going from the average 2,600 square foot home. To living tiny in an average 400 square foot tiny house. There are many advantages of going small and living the minimalist lifestyle.

Some Advantages Of Living Tiny.

Mobility:

perhaps the biggest advantage of living tiny in a tiny house is its mobility. This is great for people whose work takes them all over the country. or for people that just like to travel. And get to see all that this great country has to offer.

The days of packing up a suitcase with as many comforts from home. That you can possibly fit into the few suitcases you want to bring are over. When you live in a tiny home not only can you bring all the comforts of home with you? But you bring your entire home. This does take some planning and stowing of your belongings. But well worth it in the end in my opinion.

Financial Freedom:

With big houses comes big mortgages that will take you years to pay off. The average price for a family home for 4 is around $305,000. In 2016 the average price for the same home would have been $274,000. As you see the prices for homes has and will continue to climb each and every year.

While if you go all tricked out on your brand new tiny home you could spend $150,000. But in all honesty, you could build one (depending on the square footage) for $20,000 to $60,000. That’s a huge saving from the traditional family home.

Not only will you save big on the cost to build a tiny house and start living tiny. But think of the savings from the utility bills. No more lighting, heating, or cooling a huge house. With rooms, you most likely don’t use all the time anyway. Plus we won’t go into it here but there are tons of ways to make your new tiny house Green or even self-efficient.

Getting Rid Of The Clutter:

Because you decided to go tiny means, of course, you will have to make some big decisions. What I mean by that is what do we really need and do not really need. It is a big adjustment from going from a 2,000 square foot home. Down to a 200 to 400 square foot home.

This is because you just won’t have the space for the unnecessary stuff you have collected over the years. This is a good thing though when you really think about it. We as Americans tend to put too much emphasis on our belongings. Versus living and enjoying life. And only having what we really need.

The Views:

To build your home somewhere that will provide you with a breathtaking view can be pretty costly these days. Not only for the land but also the building cost of the home itself. You may never find that perfect view you are looking for. That will also be building friendly for your home. this means costly modifications may be needed to get your house built. And that’s the view you will be stuck with. Unless you go through it all again and build a new one.

But with your mobile tiny home, you can have a different view every week. And there is no shortage of beautiful places around the country. That will allow you to pull up your house and set a spell. Then next week pack up and move on to the next one. A really great way to see what America has to offer you.
